The Midnight Matinee Mug

Ten minutes until the second feature.

The intermission reel is running — a popcorn box with legs, a soda cup with a bendy straw and a grin, and a jack-o'-lantern in a paper usher's cap pointing you toward the snack bar. Behind you, three rows of cars with fogged-up windows. Somebody's kid is already asleep in a back seat.

This mug is that reel, frozen mid-frame. Atomic starbursts and radiating sunbeams, cherry red and turquoise against midnight blue, printed a hair off-register the way everything was in 1955.

The second feature is the scary one. You've got ten minutes. Go get your popcorn.
